Message From Outgoing Chairman

ANUJ PODDAR

Managing Director & CEO , Bajaj Electrical Ltd

What started in 1950 as a small group of few dedicated fan industry entrepreneurs known as FMA ( Fan Makers Association)has grown into the formidable IFMA by the turn of the century, now boasting of over 120 members and is ever growing .

Over the past seven decades, IFMA’s leading members have not only shaped the fan industry but have also laid the foundation for its future by embracing newer technologies . The entire e o system has been well covered and great initiatives are in process.

With a vision focused on sustainability and energy efficiency, IFMA has made significant strides in recent years. A standout achievement has been their compliance with the BEE star labelling norms, propelling the development of energy-efficient fans. This commitment not only reduces energy consumption but also brings tangible benefits to consumers and to the nation.

In an effort to better serve the industry and its customers, IFMA has expanded its reach by welcoming vendors and small manufacturers into its fold. This inclusivity has led to a fivefold increase in membership, strengthening the association’s collective expertise and voice.

As we approach our upcoming AGM, we are not just looking back at the 75 years of the Indian fan industry’s rich legacy but also celebrating the continued growth and innovation that defines IFMA’s journey.

Fans for Modern Homes: A Blend of Style, Technology, and Functionality
The humble ceiling fan has come a long way from being a simple, functional appliance to an integral part of a modern home. Fans are no longer just about cooling but have evolved into stylish additions that enhance interiors while offering smart features for convenience and efficiency. With consumers increasingly focused on design and aesthetics, ceiling fans are now available in a variety of finishes and colours to suit different tastes. Whether it’s a brushed copper finish for a touch of sophistication or a matte black design for a striking contrast, the choices are endless, giving consumers the freedom to express their personal style. What stands out most is how these designs combine simplicity with elegance, proving that aesthetics need not be overcomplicated to make a statement. Beyond looks, customers want their fans to deliver exceptional performance. This has led to the integration of technology that makes everyday life easier. Features like remote controls, variable speed settings and modes and integrated lights have become common. Moreover, as environmentally conscious consumerism rises, the demand for energy-efficient ceiling fans is growing rapidly. To that end, the introduction of BLDC motors has revolutionised the industry, offering energy efficiency and quieter operation, which are now key considerations for buyers. Many modern fans also come with reverse rotation, which makes them suitable for all-season use. In summer, you can set the fan to rotate counterclockwise for a cool air downdraft, and in winter, set it to rotate clockwise to circulate warm air trapped near the ceiling and distribute it uniformly. And then we have IoT-enabled fans that allow ease of control through mobile apps and voice assistants, which are becoming more prevalent among mobile and tech-savvy consumers.
